Under 10s:
Another great afternoon of cricket at Brooks Oval which saw a huge improvement in fielding for the Under 10s. Riley A and Digby R both effected outstanding run outs while classic catches were taken by Harrison and Albert.
Annalyce continued her good form with the ball taking a wicket alongside Jack P, Blake and Lachlan, while Harrison, Blake, Horatio and Jack P (hit a six) contributed well with the bat. Ryan Budda-Deen and Corbin Walls captained a very close game. Well done to all.
Under 12s:
Square & Compass vs Campbell & Freebairn:
In a battle of the teams with extended names, C&F won the toss and batted. The call didn't bode well, with Leo Eastwood and Connor Bailey both dismissed without scoring. Myles Kelly and Barnaby Munro were among the top scorers with Leo coming back in to retire on 15.
George Rattray put in a great innings only to be bowled out on his last ball. Fergus Roger, Noah Grob, Howie Eastwood and Nick Morelli all claimed wickets with Nick taking 2 for 6. Colby Walker instigated a tremendous runout and Dan Bell took a great catch. In reply, Nico Alliston smashed three fours to retire on 15 and Noah Grob was delighted to achieve a new P.B. batting.
Dan Bell hit the winning runs for S&C with a 4 through the covers and Oliver Spicer was the not out batsman at the other end. Final score was 114 to 97. Wickets for C&F were claimed by Henry Oliver, Myles Kelly and Connor Bailey. Nick Morelli won the match ball.
RSM vs Staggy Creek:
RSM chose to bat with Jack Jellicoe and Maisie Eastwood setting up a great start for the side. Charles Turnbull could not be beaten retiring on 6 with Tom Taylor, Eddie Grant and Kirby Fuller all offering valuable assistance with the bat. Josh Cathie, George Taylor, Henry Ballinger, Rocco Eastwood and Ryan Horwood all claimed wickets on a bowler's pitch.
George Taylor took a caught and bowled as well as another catch of Henry's bowling. In the swap, George couldn't be dismissed as an opener nor could Evan Burgess who retired on 11. Damon Martin was a welcome return to Friday cricket and provided some assistance at the tail end.
Charles Turnbull took a caught and bowled, with Maisie Eastwood, Georgie Leonard and Jack Jellicoe taking wickets. Oscar Monie, Eddie Grant and John Bailey all did well with ball, though RSM proved too good and took the prizemoney.
