The two were wed at St Augustine's Church of England in 1950 and have lived in Inverell ever since. Details of their wedding day were published in The Inverell Times, mostly describing the clothing worn.
The announcement spoke of Myrtle Daphne Jeffrey, seventh daughter of Mr and Mrs Jeffrey and Mr William Robert Romer eldest son of Mr and Mrs Romer being married by Reverend A Battersby.
"The radiant bride, who was given away by her brother, looked most attractive in a lovely gown of white net with lace insertions. The tightly fitted bodice had a square neckline and short puff sleeves.
"The very full skirt was fashioned in five tiers trimmed with frills and this was further enhanced by the long embroidered tulle veil worn Madonna fashion."
Myrtle and Bob had five children, 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
On February 22, the couple will have a celebration lunch at the Inverell RSM Club with family to mark the platinum wedding anniversary milestone.
