After 17 years at the local police station, Senior Constable Roberts moved with his wife Susan to report for duty as the single unit police officer on the Island.

While speaking with his old work colleagues Senior Constable Roberts mentioned the very limited police signage at his new island station.
When the demolition started in April at the station where Senior Constable Roberts spent the last 17 years, Chief Inspector Rowan O'Brien arranged for the metal front counter NSW Police Crest to be saved and sent to Lord Howe Island.
Chief Inspector O'Brien presented the NSW Police Crest to the Mid North Coast Police District Local Area Manager Roslyn Lang while on a work-related visit to Port Macquarie last month.
The crest was sent on the Island Trader, which transports the island essentials to Lord Howe Island on a two-weekly basis from Port Macquarie.
The NSW Police Crest which now has pride of place on the front of the Lord Howe Island Police Station.
While Inverell has had temporary links to the island by personnel working there, now there will be a permanent little bit of Inverell at Lord Howe Island.
