A TEENAGER has been stripped of his car and his license, after a police pursuit in the New England region on Friday night.

Police spotted a blue Subaru speeding along the Gwydir Highway near Inverell at about 11:30pm, and tried to stop the car as it turned onto Jardine Road.
The vehicle's driver allegedly failed to pull over for police, and the officers gave chase.
Inverell police alleged the 19-year-old driver hit speeds of more than 170km an hour, while in an 80 zone, during the pursuit.

The teenage driver was arrested a short time later, after his Subaru was damaged when it hit a roundabout at the intersection of Ring Street and Bannockburn Road.
The 19-year-old Inverell local was arrested by police at the scene.
He was taken to the Inverell police station, where officers handed him a suspension notice for his P-Plate driver's license.
Police also seized the young man's car.
He was charged with police pursuit - not stop and drive in a dangerous manner or speed.
The 19-year-old driver was granted conditional bail, and will appear at Inverell Local Court on January 14, next year.
Meantime, another teenager was slapped with a hefty fine after a separate weekend incident in the New England region.
A silver Subaru caught the attention of local police as they patrolled Wynne Street in Inverell, at about 5pm on Saturday.
Police said the 17-year-old driver did a "burnout" and left black tyre marks on the road.
The young man was handed a $697 fine.
