Zak Kirkup has blamed Labor after fuses were stolen from the temporary office in his electorate of Falcon, south of Perth, leaving volunteers in the dark.

The West Australian newspaper reports Mr Kirkup has also complained of vandalism at the same office, the theft of a donation bin at his nearby electorate office and being targeted by online trolls.

"We know Labor is targeting me personally and has attacked my campaign office - and my message to them is that we won't be deterred," he said.

"There's been a massive increase in both online abuse and incidents at the office."

Premier Mark McGowan flatly rejected his opponent's claims, accusing him of desperation ahead of the March election.

"It's just untrue and baseless and silly," the premier told reporters on Thursday.

"I just urge the Liberal Party to stop making things up.

"There's serious issues at stake in the election campaign and they shouldn't be making things up and trying to just draw attention for whatever reason."

Senior government minister Rita Saffioti accused Mr Kirkup of "attention-seeking behaviour" and challenged him to provide evidence.

"These sorts of claims, these baseless claims, are more suited to first-year university politics than a state election campaign," she said.

While the writs will not be issued until February 3, marking the formal start of the run to the election, both parties have already been campaigning for weeks.

The premier on Thursday spruiked road upgrades in Byford, in the semi-rural Liberal seat of Darling Range southeast of Perth.

He was due to then head south for campaign events in the Peel region and Bunbury.

Mr Kirkup meanwhile announced a plan to tackle shoplifting in the Labor-held seat of Armadale.

The Liberal leader has written to the premier challenging him to take part in five debates during the campaign, although the ambit claim is unlikely to be agreed to.

Mr McGowan's strong popularity has Labor in the box seat to win re-election at the March 13 poll.
