"It was such a great opportunity, and I thank my employer and everyone here for helping me get there."
Mr Claridge started with CL Squires & Co about three years ago, and has never looked back.
Been given the chance to apprentice as a stock and station agent when he was at school, he fell in love not just with auctioneering - although that clearly is a drawcard for him - he also loves being around people and creating and building relationships with clients.
To take the win at Easter, he said he pumped the knowledge out of his mentors, some from within the company and some from without.
"They really helped me hone in on what I needed to focus on and improve," he explained.
"Before, my auctioneering style was fast paced and very inconsistent, and they've helped me work on my clarity, control and extraction, which is something I'll now be able to use here locally too."
His sights are now set on the national title next year, and is grateful for the chance to compete in that arena.
