With many gathered from around the surrounding district, the official unveiling of their Founding Families War Memorial Monument didn't disappoint.
This tribute was the brainchild of locals Michelle Coulton and Angela Stewart.

The display includes the names of all those locals who served their country in conflicts, including local veterinarian Kathleen Farr, who looked after the horses and another animals during the Great War.
"Supported by a grant from the State Government, the local community, together with Gwydir Shire Council, have produced a magnificent tribute to our servicemen and women," MP Adam Marshall said,
"[It's] a drawcard for former locals and travellers passing by to stop in and take look at the Honour Roll and the profiles and history on the monument."
