The man suffered injuries to his leg, arm and pelvis when he came down hard under an open parachute on Monday, the Australian Parachute Federation said.
He was flown to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra hospital in a serious condition after the incident at Skydive Ramblers Toogoolawah, which offers learn to skydive lessons and tandem jumps.
"The man, whose name cannot be released, was a trainee skydiver, making his 12th jump as part of a routine training exercise," the federation said in a statement.
The federation, which regulates skydiving in Australia, will investigate whether equipment, human error, or weather conditions played a part in the incident.
