News of an increased level of fragments of COVID-19 in Armidale sewerage has prompted sporting officials to halt competitions with player safety in mind.
Group 19 rugby league made the decision to postpone Saturday's round 14 fixtures on Friday.
"The board have met tonight and have made the decision in the bet interest of players' safety and welfare that this round will be postponed," they said in a statement.
"As you are all aware, Armidale have high traces now of COVID in their sewerage treatment works and the source of this is yet to be traced.
"The board will be meeting Monday to work out strategies to move forward and hopefully to get a grand final for this season."
The news comes after the Group had previously re-written their draw after several postponements from Moree's COVID scare earlier this year as well as washed out rounds.
Saturday's matches were due to see Guyra host Inverell, Armidale host Moree and Narwan play Ashford.
Meanwhile, New England Rugby Union, North West AFL and Sport UNE Football League will be holding their matches.
