But then this week's rain event put a dampener on what was scheduled to be their first race meet of the season.
This Saturday the club was due to host six races in a non-TAB event but a barrage of rain halted that.
Racing NSW issued a release.
"Please note Inverell Racecourse received 12mls of overnight rain and 65mls over the past three days, and this has resulted in surface water with the track deemed unsuitable for racing," it said.
"As a consequence, the Inverell Non-TAB race meeting scheduled for Saturday (2nd October) has been abandoned."
The jockey club is due to host another meet on October 16, pending on coming rainfall and how the track recovers.
It is not yet known whether crowds will be permitted.
