The hike is a campaign to raise awareness about the plight of the thousands of homeless in NSW and the region.
The main 684km loop begins in Moree and extends through Narrabri, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Armidale, Glen Innes and Inverell, returning on August 10 to Moree.
Forms can be obtained by phoning the event organiser, Leigh Smith, manager of Byamee Homelessness Support Team in Moree.
He said those registered to walk in and around Inverell either on Saturday, August 9 or Sunday August 10 must attend a briefing session to receive safety hats and vests and routes established for the hike. Support vehicles will be driving routes to ferry people back to town, escort walkers, and carry water, food and first aid supplies.
Briefing sessions will take place on the Saturday morning, 7am at Victoria Park or at 2pm at the Inverell Skate Park. The Sunday briefing session is at 7am at the Salvation Army Hall, Vivian Street.
Leigh said he had received about 30 forms from hikers so far, and most are planning to walk the entire route. However, participants who can walk a block, a kilometre or more are all welcome to add their distance to the final tally.
To obtain forms and more information, phone Byamee at 6752 1550 or 6752 5956.
