The brainchild of BEST social programs co-ordinator Danny Middleton, the new initiative allows people seeking employment to rehabilitate old furniture and items for sale to the public. One hundred per cent of each sale will be donated to Inverell charities and not-for-profit organisations working within the community.
Danny’s philosophy, since the genesis of the BEST Food Garden which draws on the communal effort of many demographics working to feed our seniors, is Inverell should look after its own.
“We’ve got fantastic representatives in federal and state and local government but we can’t be reliant on those guys; we need to start looking after ourselves,” he said. “If what they contribute and we put in our contributions, imagine this town’s potential.”
