Twins Ben and Alice Wall at Inverell Public were quietly confident. “It was our first day of school and our brothers already went and they told us how school went,” Alice said.
Holy Trinity’s Ben Browett didn’t know what to expect, but was excited to play soccer in his lunch breaks.
Ross Hill’s Layla Pay said seeing her teacher, Mrs Gartshore, calmed her fears.
“She said ‘Hello Layla Pay, is this your first day?’ and I said yes and then I smiled,” Layla said.
Megan Scott, in year one, said meeting everyone was easier than she expected – and by the end of her first year, she had 10 new friends. “You just ask them if they want to be your friend and then if you be real nice to them, they want to be your friend”.
