To be held on Saturday, January 27 – two days before construction is set to begin, locals will gather in Otho Street to protest the council’s decision to remove plane trees from the CBD and alter traffic conditions with a number of roadworks.
Organisers invite the community to join in, with the protest beginning at 9.30am outside of Syrett’s Newsagency.
The construction will begin on Otho Street on Monday, January 29, and is expected to take approximately 15 weeks. It will include the removal of plane trees and the construction of a central median strip.
Plans are also in place for similar works on Byron Street.
