Police from New England Police District were called to brawls in Waratah Avenue on the evenings of Tuesday, February 13, 2018 and Sunday, February 18, 2018.
Officers arrived to find up to thirty people fighting, and additional resources were called to assist in dispersing the crowd on each occasion.
An investigation was launched to identify those alleged to be involved and, as a consequence of those inquiries, ten people have now been charged.
On Monday, February 19, three men – aged 29, 56 and 65 – and three women – aged 27, 31 and 49 – were arrested and charged with affray and offensive behaviour.
They were granted conditional bail to appear in Inverell Local Court on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, a further four people – two men aged 18 and 22 and two women aged 26 and 28 – were arrested. They, too, have been charged with affray and offensive behaviour.
They were granted conditional bail to appear in Inverell Local Court on Thursday, April 19, 2018.
Police have also seized a samurai-type sword from a home on Waratah Avenue.

New England Duty Officer, Chief Inspector Rowan O’Brien, said those charged are all known to each other.
“Police are working to establish the identities of other people alleged to be involved in the brawls, and further charges are possible,” Chief Inspector O’Brien said.
“We will be alleging in court that both incidents arose from a neighbourhood dispute.
“As part of these inquiries, investigators are examining digital vision of both incidents, and are speaking with a wide range of people.
“Police are also working with local stakeholders, both government and non-government.
“Furthermore, I remind the community my officers are tasked with maintaining law and order, public safety and security.
“To achieve this, police will use whatever resources are appropriate to arrest and charge those responsible for public order incidents.
“Anyone with information about illegal or anti-social behaviour is urged to contact Inverell Police or Crime Stoppers,” Chief Inspector O’Brien said.
