Ongoing: Pioneer Village – Motorbikes from the 1920s until now will be on display as part of the Inverell Motorcycle Restorers Club’s annual rally from Friday, April 13 to Sunday, April 15. Entry is by gold coin donation.
Copeton Dam – The inaugural Cod for Cash fishing competition will run from Saturday, April 14 to Sunday, April 22 at Copeton Dam. Prizes range from $1000 to $20,000. Anyone under 16 years must nominate a parent or care giver to accept the prize on their behalf. Registrations are open until April 22 at the Australian Hotel, Compleat Angler and Camping World Inverell, Inverell Fishing and Hunting, Inverell H Hardware, Northern Tablelands Local Land Services, Regional Australia Bank and Simply Print Anything Inverell.
Warialda Town Hall – From 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday between April 16-20 there will be school holiday activities. The cost is $10 per child per day or $20 a family per day. Bookings are essential. To learn more, call Alyse Steiger on 0408 454 813.
Inverell Mountain Bike Club – Each Tuesday and Thursday morning during the holidays (from April 17-24) the club is hosting a kids coaching skills and development hour. Children can come along and learn lots of mountain bike skills at the MTB Park. Open to junior and high school ages.
Armajun Aboriginal Health Service – As a part of the NSW Aboriginal Knockout Health Challenge, Armajun have started a walking group. The group walks at 6.30am or 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For more information, contact Armajun on 6721 9777.
Saturday, April 14: Mount Russell Hall – The annual seafood night will offer prawns, oysters, bugs, whiting fillets, chicken, fresh salads, soups and sweets. Tickets are $50, available from Sapphire City Steel. For more information, call 0402 910 572.
Elsmore Hall – The Elsmore Hall dance will be held from 7.30pm. Gail and Con Mureau will play the music. Dances are held every second Saturday of each month. The cost is $10, and participants are asked to bring a plate for supper. To learn more, contact Mavis Ting on 6721 4423.
Inverell Town Hall – The Clarence Valley Orchestra and Chorus will perform An Afternoon at ‘The Outback Proms’ from 2.30pm. The cost is $30 for adults, $25 for concession and $5 for a child. Tickets are available through Tourism Inverell on 6728 8161.
Sunday, April 15: Ashford Central School – A free Aboriginal bike safety course, starting at 8.30am and running until 11.30am. This will involve free bike checks, learn new cycling skills, free minor bike repairs, free helmets and refreshments supplied. All children are welcome to come along and have some fun. Monday, April 16: Inverell Shire Public Library – Children aged from kindergarten to year six will create their own sand art skull picture and photo frame, with the help of photo booth props. Tuesday, April 17: Varley Oval – Pacific Sports Management are hosting a rugby league holiday camp. Costing $50, the 6-10 year old activities will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Inverell Cinema – To celebrate Youth Week, under 18s can enjoy a free screening of Peter Rabbit. This event is an initiative of Inverell Shire Council and funded by Youth Week NSW. Tickets are only on sale on Monday, April 16 at Tourism Inverell. First in best dressed. The screening will be from 9.30am. Each child will also get a free small popcorn and drink.
