Documents are released to the public via the website budget.gov.au when the Treasurer’s speech begins. Journalists from across the country will also be able to release embargoed information from the budget lock-up at that time.
Bill Shorten will deliver his Budget reply on May 10, two days after the budget is released.
COVERAGE
We’ll have a live blog for those who just want the bullet point updates as they happen. We’ll also have coverage straight out of the journalists’ Budget lock up.
TV
Only the ABC will be broadcasting the Budget live on free-to-air and have immediate reaction, although Channels 7 and 9 will no doubt have updates interspersed through their flagship shows The Voice and House Rules. Both those networks will also have Budget specials later in the evening.
On the other hand, if you want to avoid anything Budget related, Channel 10 looks like the place to be with its regularly scheduled programming of MasterChef, Hughesy and NCIS all set to go ahead.
STREAMING
The ABC’s budget special will be streamed live on its app and iview.
RADIO
If you’re out and about, ABC News radio will broadcast the Treasurer’s speech. Radio National will have a budget special from 6pm and local ABC stations will have a budget special edition of PM.
