The demonstration on Thursday was part of a ‘don’t be a statistic’ driver education and awareness day for all Year 11 students in the region.
Inverell Rescue Squad, police, ambulance and fire fighters were called to a two-vehicle crash involving a small car and a Hilux ute.
The students were talked through each first-responders role and the steps taken to ensure safety of those involved in the crash and emergency services personnel.
In the emotive demonstration two involved were classed as walkers, one had to be rescued out of the Hilux and one was pronounced deceased.
Students from Inverell, Bingara, Bundarra, Ashford, Warialda and Emmaville took part on the awareness day which began with a police presentation at 9.30am.
Afterwards NSW Ambulance held a drug and alcohol talk where students used beer goggles to distort their coordination.
The day finished with a presentation from a spokesperson from the brain injury unit, who shared his own story of what can happen when driving is not taken seriously.
