The workshop has been organised by Inverell Shire Council in response to the Australian Government launching its ever popular Volunteer Grants program.
Council mayor Paul Harmon says volunteer grants provide grants of up to $5,000 to clubs, non profit organisations to help their volunteers.
“Last round of this grant program was held about 18 months ago and there was 18 grants awarded to volunteer groups across the Inverell Shire”.
“From Yetman Campdraft Association to the Lions Club and Swimming Club, grants were provided to purchase vital equipment to help these organisations function, including the likes of fridges, ride on mowers, PA systems, shade tents and even furniture for meeting rooms”.
“Just $5,000 can make a world of difference to many non profit organisations and helps them go about their work in the community a little easier”.
Cr Harmon acknowledged the process of writing a funding application may appear daunting to some, but says the upcoming workshop will ease participants into the process with a step-by-step approach.
“At the end of the two-hour session, participants will have a fully complete grant application, ready to submit to the funding body”.
With $20 million available to volunteer organisations across Australia under the program, Cr Harmon hopes Inverell Shire groups will once again fare strongly among grant recipients.
No prior experience in grant writing is necessary in order to attend the workshop, which will be 6-8pm, 4th September at Inverell Town Hall Annex.
Registration is essential to Council on 6728 8288 or council@inverell.nsw.gov.au.
