“It’s been really, really good. We’ve got things from home, a couple of lounges, a cement mixer, fire pit; and the vouchers we’ve got are phenomenal too,” organiser Fay Butcher said.
The monster auction is the latest in a series of local events designed to raise funds for local Terry Lawlor and his family. Due to a degenerative disease called inclusion body myopathy with early-onset Paget disease and frontotemporal dementia, Terry uses a wheelchair.
With around $52,000 under their belt, the fundraising group are close to raising enough to purchase a van for Terry, which will be equipped with lifting equipment to help with his mobility.

The community is invited to visit the Rugby Club from 5pm on Saturday to take part in the auction, which includes lounges, paintings by local artists, a fire pit, a cubby house, gift vouchers and a mini cricket bat signed by Glen McGrath.
Locals are asked to RSVP by Friday, August 24, with tickets available from the BEST Community Shed. Adults are $20 a head, with children 16 and under free.
Dinner cooked by Smo-KING barbecue will be provided, and musicians Fat Hardy and Benny Hutchinson will entertain the crowd.
The Inverell community have embraced the cause wholeheartedly. Previous events include a charity AFL day from the Inverell Saints, which raised almost $22,000, an emergency services bowls day and a fashion show. Staff from the General Merchant donated half of their 2018 tips to the cause, and Craze Dance gave the proceeds of their Earth Dreamer concert’s program sales.
