The council is inviting caring and compassionate community members to consider joining a committee focused on developing the shire's ageing strategy as well as Dementia Friendly Communities in Warialda and Bingara.
The committee will help elderly residents and people with dementia become involved in several activities and social events. The aim is to provide meaning and purpose in their lives for as long as possible.
Through the creation of Aged and Dementia Friendly Communities the council hopes to tackle social isolation and stigma with education and awareness.
Expressions of interest will include an outline on why you are interested in joining the committee.
If you would like to contribute, send your details to mail@gwydir.nsw.gov.au or post your interest to Locked Bag 5, Bingara NSW 2404.
If you require any further information on the scope of this committee call Gwydir Shire Council's aged care services manager, Sharon Baker at (02) 6729 1314.
