A SECTION of the Old Bundarra Road near the popular Inverell Lions Park will be made new again, with Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall today announcing $45,196 will be spent resurfacing the busy road.

Inverell Shire Mayor Paul Harmon said the funding would allow work on Old Bundarra Road to be fast-tracked.
"Old Bundarra Road is a key gateway to the Inverell CBD for residents in South Inverell and also connects to popular outdoor venues like the Skate Park," Cr Harmon said.
"Having these funds available means council can get straight to work replacing the existing surface with a new asphalt hard wearing seal.
"Council is ready to go on this project and it is expected our crews will have it complete by the end of the year."
Mr Marshall said Old Bundarra Road acted as both access point and bypass for the Inverell CBD.
"Each day close to 2000 vehicles travel this piece of Old Bundarra Road as they make their way to South Inverell, the Gwydir Highway or Inverell High School," Mr Marshall said.
"This work will see the existing surface replaced with a new asphalt hard wearing seal near the entrance to the Lions Park, where motorists experience poor ride quality while negotiating the curve.
"While this project will increase safety for motorists it will also improve water drainage on the roadside, helping reduce the amount of maintenance needed in the long term.
"Earlier this year I also announced an $89,000 grant to allow Council to build a dedicated youth park on Old Bundarra Road.
"These road works will provide additional safety for the children and families who will utilise that exciting park space, once it is complete."
