Inverell Shire Council mayor Paul Harmon says the survey will help Council move forward with developing an aquatic centre in Inverell with services and facilities to meet the shire's growing population.
"Aquatic industry experts, Otium Planning Group has been commissioned by Council to explore potential options to meet the changing needs of our community," said Mayor Harmon.
Cr Harmon stated the Otium team has been meeting with key user groups, including schools, to get a better picture of how the current facility is used.
The consultation aims to ensure any new facility meets the current and future needs of the shire and also complies with government project funding guidelines.
"I'd like to encourage people across our shire to fill out the survey that best describes how they use the Inverell public pool facilities.
"Patrons are encouraged to complete a user survey, either online or by completing a paper based survey with hard copies available at the Inverell public pool, the library and also at the Council Administration Centre.
"This survey has a wide scope, so we want to hear from those who use the pool but also, those people who are not currently using the pool, we want to find out why - perhaps there's programs or features that would encourage them to make greater use of the pool, for example the inclusion of a cafe, water splash play area or improved access for all-abilities," added Mayor Harmon.
The survey is available until Friday, October 2, 2020 on the following platforms:
- Online at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/ISCAquaticFSUsersSurvey
- A touch screen online survey facility is available at Inverell Pool, and
- Hard copies of the survey are available at Inverell Pool, Inverell Shire Library and the Council Administration Centre in Otho Street.
The survey will take approximately two minutes to complete and those completing the survey can remain anonymous.
