Sunderland's teammate, Matteo Sobrero, was seventh fastest in Saturday's time trial.

The second stage - a 207km examination from San Salvo to Roccaraso - is held on Sunday.
Sunderland is in his first season as a professional.
He left the amateur ranks when he claimed a second-straight Spirit of Tasmania Tour in December.
"I'm just so excited to be heading to the Giro for my debut Grand Tour," he told Bicycling Australia prior to the Giro d'Italia starting.
"I'm incredibly proud and I can't wait to get started with the next three weeks of racing, doing whatever is required of me within the team to make it as successful as possible for the team."
