Injured five-year-old boy airlifted to Tamworth hospital after amusement park accident

An Ambulance NSW spokesperson confirmed the child was hurt "getting off" a miniature roller coaster at a property on Jones Road in Tingha.

The five-year-old was treated at the scene for suspected wrist fracture and for a "significant" leg injury just after 10:30am on Wednesday.

He was taken to Inverell airport and flown to Tamworth hospital.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Carly Stone said the boy's family and bystanders did a great job looking after him until paramedics arrived.

"It's always heartbreaking for anyone who attends or witnesses accidents like this where a child is involved," she said.

"These things can happen in seconds, so it's important we take extra care when we are out and about, especially over the holiday season."

Authorities have not confirmed where the fall occurred.

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy has been airlifted to Tamworth hospital after he fell off a roller coaster ride on Wednesday morning.

The rescue chopper was called in just before 10:30am, after reports a child was injured after "falling off the small amusement ride" at a Tingha property, according to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) spokesperson.

Ambulance paramedics rushed to the scene and treated the five-year-old for suspected leg and wrist fractures, which he sustained in the school holiday accident.

He was taken by road ambulance to Inverell airport, where the Westpac Rescue Helicopter met the child and the paramedics.

It is understood the five-year-old boy has been taken to Tamworth hospital for further treatment.

The circumstances surrounding the incident and where it occurred have not been confirmed by authorities.
