The North Western Area Command community risk manager Shellie Smyth said the AIDER program is designed to help at risk residents reduce bush fire hazards on their property.
"There are a number of people in the North Western Area Command who are not able to carry out manual work around their homes," she said.
"AIDER assists seniors and other eligible residents by carrying out basic work around their properties to provide some protection from bush fires.
"NSW RFS crews can assess properties and remove material that could easily burn.
"Firefighters are also able to discuss personal bush fire planning with residents and highlight the benefits of having a well discussed bush fire survival plan."
Ms Smyth said applying for AIDER assistance is a straightforward process.
"We are encouraging residents who think they may meet the criteria to contact the NSW RFS for a free assessment," she said.
"It's not just about helping reduce the bush fire risk to the community, but also about lending a hand to those who need it and giving those people some peace of mind."
