Police are currently investigating the torching of a car in Stannifer, which sent loud bangs echoing out across the village in the very early hours of Wednesday morning.

Witness and resident Dan Sue-Fong raced out to see what was happening, calling the experience something of a "rude awakening".
"Lucky our local retired fire captain was on the scene before you could say boo," he told the Times.

At approximately 3:30am this morning, many local residents on the Stannifer-Elsmore Road went outside to see what Mr Sue-Fong described as "a large orange plume".
"Upon closer inspection [we] notice a late model Hyundai van burning on the roadside," he said.
Fire and police attended the scene to quickly put out the burning vehicle, but it was the actions of one man which brought praise from Mr Sue-Fong.
"Luckily due to the amount of loud explosions, retired fire Captain Kenny was able to douse the flames before the damage could further spread to nearby properties," he explained.
Inverell Police's Acting Inspector Ross Chilcott said investigations into the early-morning blaze were ongoing.
