Featuring pieces from 1930 right through to 2000, around half of the dresses came from Inverell. Most are handmade.
“Some of the ladies that wore the dresses will be there at the parade. Imagine how they’re going to feel,” RSPCA treasurer Allison Lane said.
There will be four full sets of bride and bridesmaid dresses and even a set of groomsmen. Some pieces are made from parachute material due to limited resources during war times.
“There was no such thing as going and buying material off the rack to make a dress,” collector Gail Harris said. Gail’s fascination with wedding dresses began with her own mother’s, and grew from there.
“I just love pretty things,” she said.
“A lot of the older ladies have given me their dresses for preservation.”
Held at the RSM Club from 1.30pm, tickets are $25. All funds will go towards the local RSPCA.
