The Inverell RSM Hawks recorded a long overdue win on Sunday at Varley Oval, with a convincing 72 to 12 victory over the Armidale Rams.

Brendan Critchlow started the scoring for his side in just the third minute of play, crashing over beside the posts for the first of the Hawks six first half tries.
At half time the score was 34 to 6 in Inverell’s favour and Armidale was proving to be no match for the hungry Hawks.
It was more of the same in the second half, with the Hawks racing in seven more tries.
Best for the Hawks on the day were Nick House who scored 20 points, and James Ballinger and Justin Caine.
In the lower grades, the Hawks Presidents Cup side was fortunate to come away victorious by 32 to 22 after trailing 16 to 12 at half time.
Inverell were reduced to 12 men with 15 minutes remaining and ahead by only two points at the time, but they managed to hang on and claim the points, keeping them in second place on the points table.
Best and fairest points went to Jerome Binge, Jack McMahon and Kyle Binge.
The junior Hawks, led by Brady Chapman, Kack McAuliffe and Nik House put in a solid performance to score a 36 to 12 win over Armidale after leading 12 to 0 at half time.
Inverell will remain in second place on the points table leading into their two forthcoming byes.
The Ladies League Tag side capitulated in the second half of their match to go down by 28 points to 14.
After leading 8-0 at half time, and then 14 to 6 ten minutes into the second half.
Armidale finished over the top of the Hawks to score 22 unanswered points in the last 15 minutes.
Best and fairest points went to Carissa Baldwin, Monique McCoy and Gaby Watkins. This loss now has the Hawks dropping back to 6th place on the premiership table.
The Hawks will this Saturday make the trip to Boggabilla to take on the Macintyre Warriors.
