The incident occurred in Brae Street, Inverell between 12.30pm and 5pm on Monday, August 13.
According to reports, a house was entered and several items were stolen, including a quantity of cash, jewellery and electronic equipment.
If anyone has information regarding the incident, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area between those times they are asked to contact Inverell Police on 67 220 599.
This was not the first Brae Street break and enter this year, with offenders entering one home through a pet door in February. Chief Inspector Rowan O’Brien confirmed there was a spike in break ins at that time.
He recommended keeping doors and windows locked, and alerting police when there is a prowler or someone acting suspiciously in the neighbourhood.
