The Golf Club’s four ball match-play Marquart Jug final was played on Saturday with the younger pair, Luke Bourke and Toby Teece-Tapscott, finishing winners over Tony Baldwin and Ian Jeffery.
Luke and Toby were three up after playing the top nine and secured the win on the 15th green. The knockout started with a qualifying round back in June.
Thirty-two teams then played round one and pairs have been eliminated over the following months. Luke and Toby had knocked out the teams of Paul Pay and Chad Gardner, Gary Hadland and Steve Kent and then Ross Chilcott and Brian Ford to make it to the final.
The Inverell Open was played on the Sunday. The very reliable Brett Monaghan finished on 71, two shots clear of second placed Phil Fox to take out the 2018 Inverell Open. Both Brett and Phil played off a handicap of two.
B Grade winners were Steve Glover, 83, and Steve Kent, 86, in a countback. C Grade was taken out by Ben Butler, 89, and Richard Black, 90, in a countback.
The net winner for the day was Simon Green. Simon finished with a net 65, two ahead of Ian Jeffery and Adam Paton.Other winners were Rusty Brien, 70, and Ray Newsome, 73, in the B Grade and Tony Driscoll and Ben Butler, both with net 69 in the C Grade.
