Sunderland will take his place in the six-man team after taking out this year’s Tour of Tasmania and finishing fourth in the National Road Championships earlier this year.
Cycling Australia performance director Simon Jones said Sunderland would add vital climbing prowess to the tour team.
“These teams support the ongoing development of athletes who are on an upward trajectory within the Cycling Australia performance pathway,” Jones said.
“We know that the route to being a world-class road rider takes time, persistence and patience.”
