In a packed field, it was Cunningham’s Meteor Gal and Liberty Pearl who passed the post in first and second respectively, ahead of third placed Angel’s Scent.
It was the only success Cunningham tasted on Boxing Day, as Tan Tat Nova capped off the day finishing second in the fifth and final race of the day.
“It was a good result and the second time Meteor Gal has won at Inverell,” Cunningham said.
“It’s always pleasing to pick up a quinella and to be honest I was a bit surprised.
“She’s [Meteor Gal] a bit inconsistent, in her four starts she has won two and come last in two. Although she seems to like Inverell and hopefully the consistency will come.”

Cunningham said he would look to race Meteor Girl at Glen Innes.
“To be honest we don’t have a lot of high hopes for her,” he said.
“However, you have to poke them into the right kinds of races and see what happens.
“Who knows, she might come good.”
