Inverell's under 16s representative cricket team travelled to Armidale on Sunday, putting in an impressive effort to secure the win.

Charlie Harris won the toss and elected to bat. The team put on an impressive total of 299. Jake House lead the charge with 112, accompanied by Dillion Gardner who finished with 43 of only 36 balls.
These two batters played outstanding spectacle of batting to set a massive platform from which the team could build on. It was further enhanced by Sam Gilligan adding his maiden half century and end up with 55.
The bowling unit was led by Charlie Harris who bowled without luck having multiple opportunities denied.
His effort with the ball-built pressure on the Armidale Batsmen bowling four maidens amongst his 10 overs bowled.
Sam Gilligan came on at second change and was dynamic taking five for 37 of 6.2 overs, in addition Gilligan took two catches in the field.
Gardner also took two catches, one of which was skillful and brilliant just inside the boundary. Highly worth of note was Alex Portass great spell of spin bowling two for 36 off nine which tied the Armidale batsmen down.
Armidale where bowled out 84 runs short in the 41st over, with nine overs remaining. The umpire commented on the great conduct of the team.
The Armidale coach commented on the way in which the boys batted with continued impressive running scoring with every new batter entering the crease.
The Inverell team manager received numerous comments how professional and well oiled the team was. Both manager and coach where extremely impressive by the team's execution and spirit with which the game was played.
The whole team pitched in. The side haven't beaten Armidale in this age bracket for many years. Jake House's leadership and performance was outstanding, but it was Sam Gilligan who took the honours of Man of the Match (55 with bat, five wickets and two catches) which was scintillating.
The team will now travel to Tamworth to take on the heavy weights of the competition on December 1.
