Inverell Women's at Sporties is a social bowls club, boasting members who love to catch-up each week for a social game or two.
The club always welcomes new faces, and there are no age restrictions or limits to be a member; all you need is a love for bowls.
President Kay Scott, although fairly new to the role, said the club has members such as Mauryeen Kennedy who has been bowling for 30-odd years.
"We've got around 30 to 40 members who vary in age and we'd love to see some new faces each week. It's always fun and we have a schedule of events for the year already planned out," she said.
Every Tuesday morning, at 9.30am during daylight savings and 10am in the winter months, the ladies gather ready to play.
Depending on numbers, selectors will decided teams and will change around the week's game to keep things exciting.
"We don't just play the same old game of bowls with the same teams each week," Kay said.
Not only is bowls a great way to keep social and make new friends, it also serves as a way for many to keep in physical shape.
"It's socially enjoyable while keeping you active," she said.
The 2019 year was capped off with a Christmas luncheon and presentation at the Sporties where winners and runners up for the year were recognised.
Many laughs were shared whilst enjoying delicious food. During the presentation, 2019 singles champion was Mauryeen Kennedy.
The club consistency singles winner was Rhonda Hutton. Mauryeen and Rhonda were also named the club pair winners.
Jan Anderson, Kaye Wilson and Janet Mepham were club triple winners. The four club champion winners were Jane Leader, Belinda Emerson, Janet Mepham and Rhonda O'Neill.
The club selected pairs were Donna Montague and Belinda Emerson and club selected triples winners were Robyn Brown, Belinda Emerson and Tess Davis.
Kay congratulated all winners and runners-up for their fantastic efforts and development in 2019.
The 2020 season begins today and all ladies are encouraged to give it a go. Those who may be new to bowling are able to use a set of bowls available at the club before purchasing their own.
"They can see if they like it, get a feel for the sport and go from there," she said.
During the year, the club will host various events such as a presidents day where a luncheon is involved.
Mixed days are also a highlight of the club, where ladies invited the men's bowling club to take part in a bit of a friendly competition.
